How To Upgrade Infinix Hot 2 To Official Marshmallow 6.0

Good news! If you're a user of Infinix Hot 2... I am proud to Announce to you that Android Marshmallow 6.0 is officially out. Unfortunately, the update is rolling out slowly, but if you can't wait to get hit by the update from your device settings, here is the OTA URL link:- DOWNLOAD

NOTE: THIS IS NOT FOR INFINIX HOT 2 USERS ON INFINIX'S XUI. THIS UPDATE IS ONLY FOR INFINIX HOT 2 RUNNING THE ANDROID ONE ROM.

PRE-REQUISITES:
  • Must be on a NON ROOTED ROM. If you attempt installation on a rooted Infinix Hot 2, you will brick your device
  • Must have STOCK Recovery, NOT custom revovery.

If you've previously rooted your device and also installed custom recovery, you need to download Infinix Hot 2 Android One stock rom and flash using sp flashtools so as to permanently wipe root and custom recovery, meaning it will revert your device back to the way it was when you purchased. After that, you can proceed to download OTA update and install using below steps.

How To Flash Marshmallow OTA Update To Your Infinix Hot 2:

  1. Download the zip file from given link.
  2. Rename it to update.zip (Important)
  3. Place it on the root of your SD Card (it shouldn't be in any folder)
  4. Power off your phone completely
  5. Press & Hold Volume Up + Power Button for 5sec to boot to recovery (stock recovery mode)
  6. Release power button and tap volume up once you see the "Infinix" Logo
  7. You will see a dead Android robot with a red sign. Don't panic.
  8. Press Volume Up or Volume down (device dependent) to get into the stock recovery mode
  9. Scroll down with Volume button to "Apply Update from SD Card"
  10. Scroll down to the downloaded OTA you renamed to "update.zip" and select with the Power Button or volume up.
  11. Install, and once installation is done, reboot your system and wait for system to start.
That's it, your device should be up and running the officially released Android Os Marshmallow 6.0

UPDATE: I have been receiving mails from most users of Infinix Hot 2 x510 running Android One Os about not being able to boot to stock recovery mode. I think Infinix naturally disabled booting to stock recovery mode on some Hot 2 x510. If you are unable to boot to stock recovery, do the following to enable your stock recovery mode:

  1. Download and Extract Infinix Flash Tool, Recovery Enabler (place folders in your desired location, preferably your pc desktop). Download Infinix Flash Tools here and Recovery Enabler here.
  2. Open Infinix Flash Tool, click on browse and navigate to folder containing Recovery Enabler, select "MT6580_Android_Scatter file" and click start.
  3. Connect your phone to your PC (switched off completely)
  4. After process has complete, Reboot after flashing and proceed to update.

NOTE: If you are rooted and also running Android XUI on your Hot 2, just download Infinix Hot 2 Android One stock rom and flash using sp flashtools and proceed to download OTA update and install afterward.

    1. Cannot fix IMEI by string in 6.0

6.0 Hot 2 is very unstable. Lock screen takes 1 to 4 seconds to wake up.

Cannot fix IMEI in any Infinix hot 2 permanently.

Going back to iphone. Android will never be stable and comfortable.

    1. Mr. Larry the update is not for Infinix Hot Note x551. Its for Infinix Hot 2 x510. Please do not attempt to install this update to your Hot Note, you will end up bricking it

    1. I[ yet to fix the bugs found on S5 & 6. Have you tried HTC Custom rom on your Infinix Hot Note? If not, give it a trial, its stable. You can download it on Infinix Custom Rom thread here in Miahtek's categories.

    1. Would have really loved to help but the above upgrade is direct from InfinixMobility not a 2nd or 3rd part port and so, bugs are to be expected but I'm sure an OTA will be pushed to fix noticeable bugs. But I'll see what I can do
